1.6    Strategies to support full participation of students with disability

Demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements and teaching strategies that support participation and learning of students with disability.

I believe that all children regardless of disability must not be discriminated against because of their disability.

Catholic Education of Western Australia has a strong viewpoint of this inclusion which can be accessed via clicking on the following link:

Children with a disability must be fully included and provided with learning opportunities that cater for their needs, hence the design and use of IEP’s.

During my Phase 2 experience, I referred to the IEP below, to ensure I was catering for the needs of a hearing imparied child within my Pre-Primary class.

I made the necessary environmental, instructional and curriculum adjustments indicated, including wearing a microphone that was linked to her hearing aid.

This I.E.P. was written at the beginning of the year by her current teacher.  It will be reviewed at the end of the school year by the child's Pre-Primary (2020) and Year 1 (2021) teacher. the child's parents  and the South West Disability Consultant, Priscilla Carlisle, to assist in the writing of a trasition plan.  This plan will outline the Priority Goals for this student for the commencement of 2021.
