3 Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
3.7 Engage parents / carers in the educative process
Describe a broad range of strategies for involving parents/carers in the educative process.
I believe parents are the first educators of their chldren are it is instrumental that they are engaged in the educative process. During 2020 this has been more difficult as for most of the year parents have been unable to enter our classroom or attend assemblies. Normally I welcome and involve parents in many class activities such as art and craft or reading groups. Other strategies that I utlise to ensure that effective parent/teacher communication occurs have included welcome evenings, sending home a short questionaire to learn more about the parents view of their child, parental workshops on maths and reading strategies, emails to inform parents of both positive and negative aspects of their child's learning, reporting on student achievement via SEQTA and a detailed class blog with photographs of learning experiences, important upcoming class dates and snippets about student learning.
