The Communication and Reporting Expecations of my current school, Our Lady of the Cape, are made known to parents in our Parent Handbook.
Exert from OLC's Parent Handbook
From 25 years of teaching experience, I believe that there is now an even greater need to record and report on student progress. I believe parents have become more demanding and often there is a need to justify marks given. Keeping records and reporting regularly will therefore assist a teacher in this process. It is important to use a range of strategies to report on student progression. By reporting on student achievement in a number of ways (merit awards, class certificates, emails, phone calls, SEQTA Semester Reports, Interim Reports, portfolios, digital work samples available on One Note and parent meetings), teachers are able to communicate effectively and create rapport with parents and carers that will ultimately encourage timely student goals to be formed.
A continuous reporting cycle also enable students to be accountable and motivated about their learning as they will observe that there is communication between parents about their development.
I am proficient at using SEQTA as part of the rporting process
