3 Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
3.1 Establish challenging learning goals
Set learning goals that provide achievable challenges for students of varying abilities and characteristics.
In Phase 2 of my Prac experience, based on their individual needs, the children were set Writing Goals to work towards. These were explicit in nature and displayed so that we could constantly refer to them. Once a child showed evidence in their writing of achievemnt of a goal, they were set another. A little checklist was included with each piece of wriitng to give feedback to the children on what they had acieved and what they needed to focus on next to make their writing "even better". These goals inform the learning experiences I planned, small groups sessions, modelled writing and scaffolding required.
The whole class also had the common goal during these writing sessions of using the correct structure or Recount Writing (including who, when, what, where etc...). Again, they recevied feedback if they had achieved this structure or on what component they needed to focus on in their next piece of writing to enable development to occur at whatever level their writing was at.
